TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has fulfilled the summons of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Tuesday, April 12, 2016. He was questioned as witness in the case of Sumber Waras Hospital land acquisition. Ahok underwent a 12-hour long questioning from 9:10 am to around 9:30 pm.
In the probe, Ahok claimed that he has explained everything on Sumber Waras land acquisition. He accused the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) of not being transparent in conducting the audit. “I just want to say that BPK has concealed the truth,” Ahok said after the probe at the KPK Building, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 12, 2016.
Regarding the disparity on the determination of taxable value of property (NJOP) in the audit, Ahok has denied wrongdoing, saying that it had been calculated by Jakarta government technical team. Ahok said the BPK had asked him to do the unthinkable: annulling Sumber Waras land acquisition. “BPK has asked us to cancel the transaction of hospital [land] acquisition, it can’t be done.”
According to Ahok, the land acquisition of Sumber Waras had been done transparently and in cash. “To reverse it, it has to be sold back; will Sumber Waras buy it with new price? If we sell it back with the old price, it would result in state loss,” he said. Ahok declined to comment on the details of the probe. “I can’t talk about the investigation dossier,” he said while heading towards his official vehicle.
The KPK began investigation on August 20, 2015, over the alleged corruption in Sumber Waras Hospital land acquisition by Jakarta provincial government. The case first came into prominence after being revealed in the audit results of the BPK Jakarta chapter based on Jakarta government finacial statement in 2014.
The BPK Jakarta chapter considered that the procedures for Sumber Waras Hospital land acquisition has violated the regulations. The regional government has incurred loss of Rp191 billion on the overpriced land, according to the Supreme Audit Agency Jakarta chapter.
The BPK has re-audited the financial statement upon the KPK request. Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama was subject to a daylong probe by the BPK on November 23, 2015. The investigative audit results was submitted to the KPK on December 7, 2015.
